Glass Manifolds
Glass manifolds, also called vacuum manifolds, are pieces of lab glassware that function as large channels into which other, smaller channels flow. A vacuum glass manifold is commonly used in a Schlenk line, which refers to a chemistry apparatus created by Wilmhelm Schlenk. In a Schlenk line, one manifold connects to a vacuum pump, while the other connects to a source of purified gas. This setup allows for the safe and efficient handling of compounds sensitive to exposure to open air.
